General Information

History

The Parti vert du Québec have been founded in 1985. It advocates for the adoption of a philosophy and public policies of which the environmental protection would constitute the basic element.

The party fell into oblivion from 1993 to 1998 after the leader of the party in the period, Mr. Jean Ouimet, joined the Parti québécois. The party lost its authorization from the Directeur général des élections du Québec during the 1998 election campaign, for lack of having presented the minimal number of candidates foreseen in the Election Act in order to hold the status of authorized political party.

The party was re-formed in May, 2001 and was granted again the status of authorized political party the same year.
