The Fédération du Commonwealth Coopératif, Quebec branch of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF), was founded in 1939. The CCF founded in 1932 during the Regina Convention. It was led among others by Thérèse Casgrain from 1951 to 1957, then by Michel Chartrand from 1957 to 1960.
In 1955, the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation changed its french name and became the Parti social-démocratique (PSD: Social-Democratic Party).
The Quebec branch of the CCF was dissolved in 1961 following the foundation of the New Democratic Party of Canada. The Nouveau Parti démocratique du Québec (NPD: New Democratic Party of Quebec), founded in 1963, succeded to it.
