Nous commenterons un peu plus tard, mais il y a peut-être un ou deux résultats de circonscriptions qui nous laissent perplexes, notamment dans Mirabel et Rouyn-Noranda–Témiscamingue. Est-ce que, dans le calcul du “swing vote”, on a pris compte du fait que dans ces 2 circonscriptions, l‘ADQ alignait 2 candidats vedette (le maire de Mirabel Hubert Meilleur et et l‘ex-député bloquiste Pierre Brien) qui ne sont pas de retour en 2007? Fait à noter, Greg Morrow profite de la publication des résultats pour plaider une fois de plus en faveur de la représentation proportionnelle:
Interestingly, with the rise in popularity of the ADQ and smaller parties such as QS and the PVQ, the electoral distortion between each party‘s vote and seat shares grows. For example, if parties won seats roughly proportional to their vote share, the PLQ would win 46 seats (10 less than under our current system), the PQ 37 seats (14 less), the ADQ 27 seats (9 more), PVQ 7 seats (7 more), and QS 6 seats (6 more).

You are correct. The 2003 candidates in Mirabel and Rouyn-Noranda–Témiscamingue were “star” candidates. We have not yet adjusted for candidates, as we are awaiting the final candidates for all major parties. We expect this will be complete for our next update (No. 10). We expect these two ridings will shift back to the PQ. So stay tuned…
I mis-typed our link above. This one is correct. FYI, the update referred to above is the 9th, not 8th.
FYI, Mirabel is particularly over-estimated for the ADQ, since the PLQ candidate (RITHA COSSETTE) is the wife of Hubert Meilleur, mayor of Mirabel and former candidate for the ADQ in 2003. Meilleur is obviously supporting his wife this time and not the ADQ. These adjustments will be made once all candidates are known.
