elect2000.gif (41209 octets)On October 22, 2000, the Prime Minister of Canada, Mr. Jean Chrétien (LIB), asked the Governor General of Canada, Mrs. Adrienne Clarckson, to dissolve the House of Commons and call a federal election. She accepted, and consequently, an election will be held on November 27, 2000, to elect 301 Members of Parliament, among which 75 in Quebec. It is the 37th Federal Election since the Confederation.
