On November 2001, elections will be held in 645 Quebec municipalities to fill the offices of mayor and city counsellor. Most of these elections will be held on November 4, 2001.However, in some new municipalities created after the merger of smaller cities, the municipal elections will be held on November 25, 2000.
Political analysts will keep a close eye over elections held in the new cities born of mergers, the most important among which being Gatineau, Lévis, Longueuil, Montréal and Québec.
