Political History of Mercier

The Riding

The Mercier riding was created in 1923 from parts of the Montréal-Dorion, Montréal-Laurier and Montréal-Maisonneuve ridings. From 1923 to 1966, it was known as Montréal-Mercier.

From 1867 to 1912, the territory that is currently included in Mercier was included in the Hochelaga riding. Then, between 1912 and 1923, it was shared between three ridings: Montréal-Dorion, Montréal-Laurier and Montréal-Maisonneuve.
